Updates from the Practice Team

We are very pleased to introduce and welcome Doctor Nick Oscroft to Island Bay Medical Centre

Oct 25 2016
Nick tells us that he has hailed from the South Island (the mainland as southerner’s call it) but now calls Wellington his home.
After spending 10 years working in emergency and intensive care units, he decided in 2012 that he had found his niche in general practice. He is passionate about patient centred care and tells us he is looking forward to meeting the people of Island Bay and working with the team here at Island Bay Medical Centre.  Nick will start with us  in early November 2016

Patient Experience Survey

Oct 18 2016

Our practice is participating in a national survey to find out what your experience with health care is like and how your overall care is managed.

Taking part is voluntary and you can choose to say no.

If you do decide to take part, your responses will be anonymous and your privacy protected throughout.  We will share your contact details, including your email address  and mobile number, only so that you may receive an invitation to complete the survey online.

By taking part in the survey, you would be helping to improve care and access to health services in local communities across New Zealand.

The survey will be for those patients only visiting the practice for an appointment  between 31st October 2016 and  4th November 2016.   The survey will then be repeated every three months for 1 week each time capturing only those patient with an appointment the week of the survey.

Surveys for 2017  will be February, May, August and November

Thank you in advance for participating

Our Glass Stained Window

Oct 14 2016

The glass stained windows in our entrance doors are a huge feature of our practice (especially on a bright and sunny day).    Many of you have been concerned that one side of the doors has the stained glass missing and is boarded up.     The glass is currently being repaired as we found several cracks in some of the glass panels.  It should all be fixed and back to normal in a week or so.

New Practice Manager

Sep 05 2016
We are pleased to welcome Darlene Natoli as our Practice Manager. Darlene is local to Island Bay and is no doubt known to a lot of our patients. Darlene will be starting with us on the 12th September 2016.

Fee Changes

Sep 05 2016
As with everything, costs are going up. From the 1st September, there has been a small fee increase for patients aged 25 years and older. The good news is that IBMC still has lower fees than other 'like' GP practices. If you need to know more about the fees, please refer to the fees page on the website or ask reception the next time you come in for our schedule of fees.

Change of Doctors

Sep 05 2016
It is with sadness that Dr George Karageorge has left us to take up a partnership at another GP practice and we wish him well. The exciting news is that we have another Doctor coming to join us permanently on the 8th November - more details to come. In the meantime we have other doctors working with the team to provide GP services until the new Doctor starts.

Access to your Medical Notes

Sep 05 2016

If you are registered and activated on ManageMyHealth, you are able to access your medical notes in addition to making an appointment with your doctor, request your repeat prescriptions, see your results etc. If you would like to utilise ManageMyHealth, the registration process is quick and easy. All you need to do is talk to your doctor or a member of the IBMC team about registration or you can request a registration form to be emailed to you. Email us at reception@ibmc.co.nz. Note you will need to have your own email address and not one shared with other family members.

Zero Fees for Under 13's

Jul 01 2015
From the 1st of July Island Bay Medical Centre will no longer be charging standard consultation or ACC fees with a GP or Nurse for children under 13 who are enrolled in our practice.  There will still be charges for casual patients and non-residents.  Some charges will still apply for items such as travel vaccines, minor surgery or house visits or where consumables are used in the course of treatment.
